White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel is fond of saying, “You don’t ever want a crisis to go to waste; it’s an opportunity to do important things that you would otherwise avoid.” Well, the Obama Administration certainly has not let the British Petroleum (BP) Deepwater Horizon oil rig crisis go to waste, using it as a smokescreen to silently assault and further diminish American citizens’ personal freedom.
While the nation has its eyes and ears focused on the blame game ping-pong match between President Obama and BP top brass, President Obama on Thursday, June 10, quietly announced a new Executive Order establishing the “National Prevention, Health Promotion, and Public Health Council.”
You will "change" to my liking!
Claiming the “authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America,” President Obama has truly gone off the deep end this time in his most atrocious attempt to date to control every aspect of Americans’ lives.
According to the Executive Order that details the President’s “National Prevention and Health Promotion Strategy,” the Council will be charged with carrying out ” lifestyle behavior modification” among American citizens that do not exhibit “healthy behavior.”
The President’s desired lifestyle behavior modifications detailed in Sec. 6 (c) focus on:
- smoking cessation;
- proper nutrition;
- appropriate exercise;
- mental health;
- behavioral health;
- sedentary behavior (see Sec. 3 [c]);
- substance-use disorder; and
- domestic violence screenings.
Making matters even worse, if that is even possible at this point, President Obama will create an “Advisory Group” composed of experts hand-picked from the public health field and various other areas of expertise “outside the Federal Government.”
Let’s consider who the President has sought advice and mentoring from in the past:
- Rev. Jeremiah Wright, who the Anti-Defamation League calls a “Messenger of Intolerance,” and
- Bill Ayers, leader of the 1960′s domestic terrorist group ”Weatherman” that was “responsible for 30 bombings aimed at destroying the defense and security infrastructures of the U.S.”
Now, President Obama is going to seek medical advisors who will be charged with modifying lifestyles and behaviors of those citizens he deems unhealthy? “Paging Dr. Kevorkian! You’re wanted in the White House STAT by President Obama!”
Whether you are a child, a parent, a worker, or retired, the President’s approximately 25-member “Advisory Group” will soon be present in every aspect of Americans’ lives, as the Executive Order prescribes in Sec. 4 (b). Specifically, our new so-called lifestyle behavior modification advisors will be actively carrying out the President’s orders in:
- worksite health promotion;
- community services, including community health centers;
- preventive medicine;
- health coaching;
- public health education;
- geriatrics; and
- rehabilitation medicine.
President Obama’s sweeping plan to enforce “lifestyle behavior modification” is chock full of open-ended target areas, especially when it comes to issues of “mental” and “behavioral” health, “proper nutrition,” “sedentary behavior,” and “appropriate exercise.” The President’s Executive Order is a blatant and forceful attempt to adjust the way Americans young and old think, behave, eat, drink and whatever else free will used to entitle our nation’s citizens to enjoy as prescribed by the Founding Fathers.

As for my feelings, our government is a cancer on our nation. They rip away at the foundation of our Constitution under the guise of what is good for you and I. I think they are just trying to pissoff the American people. That’s how a fascist leaders in government works. Time to Clean House of all these enemies of the people. The Constitution demands us to take action or face the consequences of inaction.
Sun – yea, reading the article really helps. You should try it. Section 5 does not say everything in this article, but all this information is contained in the executive order as a whole. The list of targeted behaviors is from Sec.6(c) and is exactly what this article states. Sec.3 gives the Health Council a broad power to create federal policies aimed at promoting national wellness. Sec.5 gives them the power to not only create these policies, but to implement them as well. Pay particular attention to Sec5(b), which allows them to “establish specific and measurable actions and timelines to carry out the strategy”. This means that the Council can tell other government departments what actions to take, and when. To be fair, in all likelihood this will turn out like the ONDCP’s anti-drug efforts – a bunch of commercials urging us to be healthy. If this is all that happens, it’s a waste of taxpayer money, but relatively harmless. However, the language in this executive order is broad enough to allow severe over-extensions of government power. A small example, but if the Council determines that sodium intake is a national issue, what is to stop them from mandating how much salt is in our food? Some people might not mind that, but I don’t need the damn government in my kitchen, nor do I need them to tell the cooks at the restaurants I frequent how much salt to put in my food. The government legitimately stepped in when food producers were wantonly poisoning our food supplies around the turn of the 20th century, but absent such blatant provocation, we do not need that now. I would be more worried about regulating melamine tainted milk from China. But as far as the government regulating my personal lifestyle; every lifestyle choice we make has some impact on our health, and, therefore, the national well-being. It isn’t a very large leap to go from “the government has a right to regulate the national well-being” to “since every action you undertake affects the national well-being, the government has the right to dictate and regulate every action you undertake.”
This is just another step, to totallitarian government. Like we weren’t close enough. This “person”, barry sotoero, HATES AMERICA, FREEDOM, INDIVIDUALITY, and EVERYTHING this counrty has traditionally stood for. The penalty for TREASON, is DEATH BY HANGING. Nothing less.

Darn him for wanting to make Americans healthier. For SHAME for not encouraging people to smoke, eat themselves to death, and engage in domestic violence. The intent to get people to eat healthier and such is all fine. I think that is good. The point however is…nothing this government does is done with our best interests first. The only limitation I saw in the order is other laws. But, its easy enough to change a law that gets in the way of thier agenda.

Note that by ‘preventive medicine’ they mean forced vaccinations, and by nutrition they mean ‘food safety’ laws of mass irradiation, GMO food and non-Organic methods.

This means the integration of all personal and societal corrective expenses, throughout the life cycle of goods and services, into the price.
For example, cigarettes will cost 5 to 10 times more.
Now we pay the not included corrective expenses anyway through our growing personal and collective problems, producing extra taxes, etc..

Not understanding the big deal about it, it’s not like they’re going to actively limit your trips to maccy d’s if you want to go and eat there 30 times a week. It seems to me it’s more of an education campaign, you’d be surprised by the amount of parents that just don’t have the education to feed their kids right. The best thing this administration can do for public health is deny Monsanto the right to give us their genetically modified crops.

All the order does is establish a council which has no budget and no authority to enforce anything. The purpose of the council is to study recommendations and gather input and write reports for the President and for Congress. Now, I’m the first to admit that understanding this order requires critical thinking skills, and without those, you may come up with some of the conclusions stated above. However, this order does not, I repeat, does not, authorize anyone to enforce anything. It provides no mandate except to hold meetings, gather input, and write reports.
If you want to be on the side of those stealing your liberties, taxing you into the stone age, teaching your children despicable things in schools across this country then you go right ahead. When it is time to face those tired of this nonsense DO NOT try to pretend you were on our side all along. You will not be welcome aboard our ship. We will watch you sink in the one you built. It’s largely the government that has made America fat with its “official” food pyramid, which had us all eating way too many carbs and de-emphasizing fats and protein. Of course, the food industry lobbies had a lot to do with this; but it was the federal government that endorsed this garbage. The FDA is constantly approving drugs that end up killing people, yet will not open up the markets on proven drugs, forcing us to pay ridiculously high prescription prices for drugs that are available for cheap and over the counter elsewhere. Who wants to trust anyone with that kind of record with our health care? Not I.

And to be fair, Our former Pres. did have a few in there that i actually liked. Anyway, this is called research. We all need to start practicing this exercise, as mis informed as most seem to be.

I think this is an excellent move by a forward thinking president. The health crisis in our country is a direct threat to our national security.
Hopefully we can ge some draconian laws to stop the poison the food industry is feeding us. If we want to maintain our freedoms we need to make smarter decisions. Too bad 50% of the country had to become obeses before people could realize something was wrong with the food supply.

IF anyone is really interested, you will need to retake control. The easiest and most peaceful is forming a states settlement bank. All revenues are deposited here, local, state, and federal.
After the people are taken care of, then give the fed the scraps from our table…Tennessee is trying exactly that.
All need to organize at the state level into real States Militias. This gives a base of manpower for many things, like disasters, etc.
It also allows for defending those settlement banks when the fed comes after their (our) money…
Use the Tenth Amendment to offer all states their freedom from DC (district of criminals)…
Referendum to withdraw from the current federal government would do it.
All laws and legislation from Lincoln’s illegal
congress stricken from the record, etc.
Lots of work in these easily stated items, but we are Americans, the can do people!
Maybe one day we can be freemen as in the days our founding documents were written.

The order reads more like they’re going to run TV spots and do research. Not mandating and forcing lifestyle modification. If they kick down your door, they’re gonna go after your guns, not your potato chips–isn’t that the usual paranoid conspiracy scare y’all sling around? Is the government going to put thermal imaging on the black helicopters to see if you’re smoking a cigarette? Haul you away to concentrate camps and force you to jog at gunpoint?
And as you know, there’s an election every 4 years… they guy will be out of a job, and then some new pres can get in… hope beyond hope they’re worth something.

@ HsTerical: Arizona is nowhere near being communist, unless you are referring to the state under the former governor, now Head of Homeland Security, or the criminal governor pardoned by Clinton, as a return favor for saving Clinton from drowning in college, in the last six hours of his Presidential Term. The AZ people are trying to protect their property, jobs and lives. They passed laws three years ago to go after the businesses hiring illegal immigrants, of course Janet wouldn’t enforce that law and told her attorney general not to enforce it. but on the bright side she signed an executive order that put AZ National Guard troops on the border, unarmed and doing paperwork and oil changes. But she could tell her supporters she sent the troops to the border. they couldn’t even defend themselves without calling her to ask permission. I have lived there for 16 years, and finally had to leave for a decent paying job to support my family. Arizona businesses are offering me a wage I made 10 years ago as the going rate because there are too many illegals willing to work for less. it is a wage that will not support my family. Our Federal government is turning the states into branch offices of themselves with the way most of the money goes to DC first and is doled out to the states from there. At the start of the 19th century the Feds collected 15% of all income taxes collected in the country. by the sixties that figure had become 78% of all income taxes collected go to the feds. to be mis-spent on their pet projects. I wasn’t happy when first Bush Sr. and then Clinton signed tax increases for us. In all likelyhood this will be another ad campaign from the White House, but between the White House and Congress lately can we afford to wait and see. A few days ago I had a discussion with a friend where it was pointed out that the government asking for a tax increase is like someone going to their boss and asking for a raise, without a meritorious reason, because they can’t manage their personal finances. Constitutionally the Federal Government is only responsible for a Standard Currency for the country, arbitrating disputes between the state governments, international relations and national defense from any threats to our population foreign or domestic. All other responsibilities are reserved to the state or local level of government. So why do we see another possible invasion into our lives by the federal government? they want to protect their source of income. it’s like the Seat Belt laws: I have four wheels on the ground and in most cases am surrounded by glass and steel, but I have to wear a seat belt or get a fine, while I can jump on the seat of a motorcycle if I choose to wearing a tank-top, cut off jean shorts and flip flops and as long as I wear a pair of sunglasses I’m perfectly legal. this makes sense doesn’t it? but it’s the result of studies done by Washington and then advising the states to enact laws. Unfortunately our federal government has long been beyond the definition of “legalized plunder” as defined in Frederic Bastiat’s “The Law” or the supporting arguments made by Ezra Taft Benson in “An Enemy Hath Done That”

I read the executive order, and all the council can do is SUGGEST! It does NOT hold legislative power, and to be completely frank, neither does the president. We have what are called checks and balances for a reason. Dumbass!! The only thing he can do is draft a bill to congress, and sign bills into law. Congress is the power that can take or give freedoms. If anything, you should be pissed at them.
And yes, Bush had tried doing the same thing with the whole domestic wiretapping bill. You don’t think he was REALLY concerned about National Security do you? No, he wanted to know what toppings you had on your pizza, and how many girlfriends you’ve been cheating on, not to mention all the dirty phone sex you’ve been whacking off to every night.
Jay, maybe you should go look at the history of smoking laws… umm I mean lack of laws, during the Clinton Admin. No law was passed that banned smoking when smoking bans first went into effect. The first bans on smoking started as protection of workers using the EPA’s bogus science of 2nd hand smoke, which was never shown to be true in any study, they used the agency OSHA to enact the bans. When the 1st bans occurred a huge group of scientists took out a full page ad in the Times and WAPO to say how they objected to the corruption of science for political manipulation. States then started enacting laws banning smoking after sheeple started accepting the partial bans in restaurants . This manipulation is the same that has been revealed in Climategate, bad science to achieve political control.
So please, don’t tell me how public policy can’t be used to control people and especially from this president, who is taking what Clinton began, turning it into an art form with health care reform, which will all be based on the whims of a panel to decide how it will be meted out.
I thought you had been one of those who hated everything Bush did, while not doing smae w/ Obama. But those two cases have nothing to do with each other. The OVER SEAs wiretapping was passed in a LAW and it was done by an almost equally split repub/dem congress and yes, dems voted for it as well. They then pretended later they had nothing to do with it, but toward the end of Bush’s term they voted for it again. Obama and the majority dem congress expanded that to DOMESTIC wiretapping.

Maybe you should switch from Faux news, and begin to see the world for what it is! Bogus science of 2nd hand smoke? Are you high? You must be! There is considerable evidence to suggest it, not to mention the many problems that people with respiratory illnesses face when dealing with a smoker who intends very much to light up their right to smoke. Would it be so bad if we were actually a healthy society? Or does that curb your lifestyle of french fries, hamburgers, and a diet coke? You obviously haven’t lost someone to the effects of smoking, nor have you experienced respiratory problems and illnesses due to such “bogus” 2nd hand smoke. As for the “Climategate”, I’ll agree that SOME data was manipulated, but not by the people you would think. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps during the Bush years (and before) that you were so obliviously manipulated that any scientific data that even closely challenges the status quo, you are programmed to automatically reject it? It’d be like someone saying the sky is blue, and you have to say anything in order to prove it’s not, even though it’s blatantly obvious.
As for the wiretapping “LAW”, as far as I was concerned it never BECAME law, due to the fact that kept getting challenged by the courts, which they found unconstitutional on many occasions. And don’t try to play the “You must love everything Obama does and hated everything that happened with Bush” card!! Everyone seems to love fictional stories.
I hope Obama and his cronies are patient, because if they think they can forcefully alter people’s behavior and thought processes, he has another thing coming. As we speak, I have a highly sophisticated spy-virus on my laptop that I know is there but can’t get rid of it. Every time I hit on a site like this or infowars, my computer revs up like a race-car. I am a talented researcher and writer, but I haven’t become very well known, just yet. However I do write non-threatening emails to the government making sure they know not everyone is so stupid as to believe their crap. Now I have this virus and I KNOW what kind it is. Every word I speak here is being recorded, but that isn’t going to keep me from peacefully and LEGALLY expressing my views which are always based on fact. There is something called the first amendment, and if the government starts riding roughshot over the bill of rights, I don’t think our men and women in the armed forces who think they’re fighting for liberty are going to like it very much. I am not affiliated with the military. Hell I don’t even own a gun. I love peace, hate hurting others and hate to see others hurt. But I also know what happened the last time an overthrow of the government almost took place. I know what happened the time before that, too. It was our military that stood in the way of Cheney and Prescott Bush. I sincerely doubt that the same thing won’t happen again. Good luck Obama, you’re losing the infowars.
I heard on the coasttocoastam radio show the other night that the people in the White House doesn’t even eat GMO foods. Why are they so much better than we are. They feed us the poison while they eat the good stuff. God made us all equal. No one better than the other.
