Having just banned sugar-sweetened beverages on city property, promoted an official “pot brownie” recipe, and currently working on a bill to ban toys in kids’ Happy Meals, the San Francisco Board of Supervisors is now proposing criminal charges to be brought against anyone caught selling pets other than fish.
“If [San Francisco's Commission of Animal Control and Welfare] approves the ordinance at its meeting tonight, San Francisco could soon have what is believed to be the country’s first ban on the sale of all pets except fish,” the San Francisco Chronicle reported today. “That includes dogs, cats, hamsters, mice, rats, chinchillas, guinea pigs, birds, snakes, lizards and nearly every other critter, or, as the commission calls them, companion animals.”
Everything is being banned in San Francisco except the ridiculous efforts of nanny state bureaucrats to dictate how citizens live their own lives independent of unnecessary government intrusion. Like the liberals, I agree that selling small pet animals for profit has moral implications, not the least of which is the over population of dogs and cats without owners.
Unlike the liberals, I understand that freedom from government control is important both in the causes I support and in the ones I do not.
Serves them right. Its amazing how stupid people are. Progressives need to have govt tell and do everything for them, yet they think they are smarter than conservatives. They are nothing but children..wait I take that back. Progressives,socalists, comunist whatever the term of the day is. They are all slaves that have been tricked into thinking they are the masters. People keep saying ” communism is good-look at Sweden”. Well Sweden is not technically considered communist. Communism doesn’t work. We need some intelligent people in the white House willing to stand up for our country instead of putting us down to other nations making us look weak and vulnerable. I am not a radicalist, I consider myself “independant” with voting. I decide by the issues. One thing B.O. Did do was “change” but not for the better!!!
Yeah, it must be a ‘liberal mindset’ because it was dreamed up and promoted by crazies in San Fran. Face it, this is no more a popular movement to most liberals than lynching the president by most conservatives. Just another example of local insanity – don’t drag half the country into you perceived stereotypes.
The overpopulation of ownerless pets must be addressed. Let us ban the performance of abortions and the use of contraceptives within San Francisco until there is a 1:1 parity between puppies and kittens and boys and girls.
See! It interferes with private decisionmaking and addresses the problem! Let’s do it, San Francisco!
