Brokebank Mounting: Debt Is a Force Illinois Can’t Resist

Love and money make Ill. Gov. Pat Quinn do crazy things

A repulsive love affair has been going on between Illinois Governor Pat Quinn (D) and his staff when they mistakingly thought nobody knew what was happening behind closed doors. The state is more than $5 billion in debt and bills are intentionally going unpaid, yet Quinn can’t resist the urge to massage his staffers’ paychecks on the backs of struggling taxpayers.

Quinn has given his staffers “43 salary increases – averaging 11.5%  to 35 staffers in the past 15 months,” according to wire reports. State Budget Director David Vaught was given extra-special treatment by Quinn with a handsome 20% raise equalling $24,000 while Deputy Budget Director Gladyse Taylor was stimulated by a 10.5% raise.

“In almost every district of the state – thousands of teachers have lost their jobs and health centers have shut down,” FOXBusiness.com reports. “The unemployment rate for the state nears 11% and the state ranks in the top five of states with the most foreclosures.”

The University of Illinois is getting screwed by Quinn, too. It hasn’t received a dime of the 45% of the money the state owes, leaving faculty, staff and students wondering how Quinn’s financial recklessness will affect them when classes resume in late August.

“[I]t doesn’t take a rocket scientist or a political genius to understand that if your state is in the red… your staff shouldn’t be bathing in big bucks,” advises FOXBusiness.com’s Gerri Willis.

You don’t need to live in Illinois to feel the pain inflicted by big government bureaucrats inflicted on responsible citizen-taxpayers. It’s all around us and there’s a good chance your state (and your family’s financial security) might be next to fall victim to financial mismanagement at the willful hands of greedy politicians working in their own best interests.

  1. Politicans live in another world and it’s a dream world where there is no responsibility. They hope to slide thru their time and let somebody else worry about the mess they make.
Just as the pols in Kaly4niA can’t stop spending I guess Illinois has the same disease.
I hope you folks can do something in Nov.
